Wow! The holidays took my life, put it into a snow globe, shook it real good, and then I watched as all the million pieces of my life spun around and around. Are you feeling as unorganized and out of control as I am?
As I reflect on 2016, I made some fantastic progress in my journey to a more minimalistic lifestyle. Some of this year’s highlights were:
Getting rid of over 6,100 things from my home
Becoming debt-free by paying off over $28,000 in debt
Minimizing my wardrobe to only 40 things
Greatly reducing my kid’s tv & Wii time and completely eliminating all phone and tablet use
Letting go of the baby items (a hard choice for many moms)
I made some great strides and, going into December, I felt completely in control. But then Christmas came and threw me off my “Simplify My Life” pedestal. Ouch – it hurt. And now my house looks something like this…..
And this….
My family is so grateful for all the gifts we received. Man, my kids are so lucky to be loved by so many. When both you and your husband come from big families (I’m a child of five, he’s a child of four), your kids get spoiled.. in a good way. Each gift they received will be played with and enjoyed and used. I promise you that. But our house is still small and we only have so much room. So this year I will be organizing and making space and continuing my journey to simplicity. And I want to help you organize too!
This doesn’t mean telling my family not to spoil my kids. They love to and I love to spoil them a little too. And it doesn’t mean no gifts at birthdays or holidays. That would just not be “us”. But it does mean I am looking at how I can control my own life, my own home, my own perspective. 2017 will be the best year yet!
So if you are feeling a little out of control too please join me as we journey into a simple and beautiful 2017. We will be purging items from the home, discovering how to become more efficient in our day-to-day life, and learning how to look at our life with abundance and gratitude whether we choose to live with a little or a lot. Let me show you how to better organize your rooms, your schedule, your diet, your life.
